If you live in Wisconsin, then the words “up north” have a very specific meaning. “Up north” includes a number of great lakes, islands, waterskiing, hiking and general outdoors greatness. Plus, it’s a really relaxed and fun place to be.
We’re “up north” this weekend, so there’s not much time to post. But while we’re here, we’re with my brother-in-law, who’s always got deep collection of blues music queued up.
“Pinetop” Perkins has been around for a long time – 95 years, to be exact. So, he’s hardly new on the scene. But if you’re only loosely involved in blues music or have only been exposed to what gets the most radio play, the legendary piano playing Perkins may not have made it on to your radar.
So as you’re hanging out and eating all that leftover barbecue, take a minute to digest some “Pinetop” Perkins. It’s great, classic, lay around blues that will probably fit perfect with the rest of this weekend.
Here’s a little starter video to get you on your way…
