One of the submarines

Not one of Thomas Dolby’s submarines. Not in this case.

The Submarines come out of Los Angeles and recently released their second album – Honeysuckle Weeks.

With tambourines blaring, The Submarines have produced a great set of really upbeat indie pop songs. Shared vocals by John Dragonetti and Blake Hazard blend well together to become another powerful instrument.

As I’ve said before about my own musical tastes, what draws me to this duo are the very intricate layering of styles and influences that make every song stand on its own. If you want to hear some of the new tracks, check out their myspace page.

Otherwise, here’s “Peace and Hate” from their last album – Declare a New State! As always, judge for yourself and see if this song sounds like anything you’re listening to now.

Hmmmm…love the female vocalist of The Submarines, I’ll have to keep an eye out for ’em on iTunes. The song I listened to “Brightest Hour” was very dreamy but I crave a more upbeat experience. I’ll see if iTunes has any remixes or faster versions…thanks for the tip!
