discovering new music… by watching olympic beach volleyball

Not sure if you’ve watched any Olympic beach volleyball – men’s or women’s. But if not, and you’re looking to expand your music collection, you should really check it out.

I can’t find any video of it, but if you watch any match, you’ll hear more :30 second clips of random music than anywhere on the net. Not sure why, but apparently they don’t want the crowd to have a second to think, so after every point, they play a random :30 second song clip until the next serve is about to be… um, served.

Yesterday, I head “I Get Knocked Down” by Chumbawumba and “My Sharona” by The Knack. Is there a better way on television to sample new music than volleyball from Beijing?

Using NewTunes – specifically playing our MusicStreaker – will be a lot like watching beach volleyball, except without the sticky sand.
