testing our search engine

We just completed a random test of our search engine. We decided to test for 1,000 random pop songs taken out of an extremely large database of songs.

At first glance, we were concerned at the number of songs that were not coming up with similar results. However, further examination revealed that it doesn’t look like we’re going to launch with many bands like:

  • Scottish Pipe Band
  • The Barvarian Beesingers
  • Sounds of the Circus South Shore Concert Band
  • The Strolling Strings – US Air Force Band
  • Israeli Folk Group
  • The Film Score Orchestra

…all of which were part of the random 1,000 that was giving us a little trouble.

While over time, our library of songs will include them, I’m sure. I’m disappointed to report that upon launch, we may not be THAT complete.

But I’m happy to report that with a more realistic and appropriate selection, we appear to be plenty ready.

Hopefully, the sounds of the South Shore Concert Band will tide you over until we get our act together and get them in our database…

Well, we certainly can’t say that this NewTunes venture hasn’t had its share of laughs…
