this just in – flight of the conchords season 2, episode 1

Well, probably not “just in.” As I tend to be behind all of these things, you’ve probably seen this already. But if not, here’s episode 1 of the new season of Flight of the Conchords (the episode comes on after the preview, so stick with it).

It’s been a long time coming…

(Thanks to Todd for the tip.)

dr. ronald chevalier – aka jemaine clement

Thanks to Developer Todd for trying to make sure I don’t fall way behind cool, yet again, by sending me this video that I’m sure is making it around the Internet.

The video is for Dr. Ronald Chevalier, a science fiction writer and would-be guru. OK, obviously this is the latest character from Jemaine Clement – half of the Flight of the Conchords (the “hot” half, I’m told).

So, what’s the story with this? It appears to be the latest viral marketing wave to cross the nation. Comedy Central gives us the whole story on this page… this one right… HERE. The character will be appearing a new film called Gentleman Broncos. Not sure of the release date, although it appears to be slated for some time in 2009.

Wonder if Clement will add to the soundtrack?

Flight of the Conchords - Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement

My passion for Flight of the Conchords hit me fast and hit me hard.

Flight of the Conchords is another case of me finding something a little late (literally one day later than when they played in Milwaukee… dammit). Matt (the designer of our logo) clued me into the Conchords, and I’ve been hooked ever since.

In fact, my interest led me to see Eagle vs. Shark – a film starring, among others, Jemaine Clement from the Conchords.

Jemaine Clement is a truly gifted actor, songwriter, musician, comedian and overall performer. And he has that “could watch him eat a bowl of cereal” quality that Jack Black seems to have to a lot of people.

The story is foremost a love story between two “losers,” with a revenge subplot that features Clement’s character seeking to beat up the guy who tortured him all through high school. Here’s the phone call that Clement’s character makes to set up the fight…

Since I was already talking about film today, I figured spread the word about this film, as well (if you hadn’t already seen or heard of it). But I also wanted to point out to you all The Phoenix Foundation, who did much of the music for the film.

The Phoenix Foundation has similarities to Wilco on their country-rock efforts. They created a great backdrop to the road trip portion of the film, as well as some of the more critical moments.

Here’s the video for “Gone Fishing,” from Eagle vs. Shark…
